A Visit to Legoland, Malaysia
May-June
2019: It was the summer vacation in schools and we were pretty excited to visit
Singapore and Malaysia for almost over ten days, mostly kids specific
places. Legoland is supposed to be a prime attraction if you are
travelling with kids of less than ten years of age, and so was our case... We
are a family of four: we, a couple travelling with two naughty kids, son
aged 8 years old and a daughter aged 4 years old! Legoland was one favorite
destination that the kids specifically wanted to go, and so we asked our travel
agent to give us a day or so to stay in the Legoland Resort itself, along with
all the passes of the parks.

Legoland Hotel and Lobby |
Legoland is on way from Singapore to Malaysia by road, about two hours drive from City Centre Singapore. We started from our hotel in Singapore after breakfast at around 9 am and arrived at Legoland, Johar Bahru (Malaysia) at around 11:30 am. It includes the time taken for immigration at the border of two countries. So we dropped in at the reception, for the arrival formalities and got our luggage kept into the clock room. It may be well noted that the check-in time at Legoland Resort was/is at 4'O Clock, so one must plan and pack and be prepared accordingly.

As we were aware that we would be getting there
early and may not get our rooms prepared beforehand, we straightaway took our
bagpack with a set of swimwear and accessories required for the day and headed
to the parks to make the best of the day. If you are staying in the Legoland
Resort, the access to all the parks are from the lift that takes you to the
ground / basement floor, and the entrance gates of Aquarium / Amusement Park /
Water Park visible close by.

Legoland Kids Amusement Park |
Firstly we went to the Amusement Park. Single or Double Prams are available for kids near the entrance and it is surely advisable to take it for kids and belongings (like bagpack, eatables, water bottle, juice etc). The Amusement Park has rides mostly suitable / enjoyable for very small kids, under 10 years, I would say. Only a few rides may be enjoyed by the elders. But yes, the full family can have a look around to find lego-models of various monuments of different countries.

Just like elsewhere in Malaysia, Johor Bahru too
has a hot and humid weather, but it rained heavily for an hour or two,
sometime, almost everyday during our stay. And it started to rain heavily soon
after we entered the park. We rushed to a Souvenir shop inside and got bright yellow
raincoats of Legoland for all four of us. Kids were happy for it and we kept
exploring the park enjoying the rain for a while. Timely hunger pangs gave us
the idea to stopover in a restaurant and grab a bite, meanwhile pray that the
rain stops. During heavy rains, many rides stop operating for safety concerns.
Then we got lucky, and as we got done with the meal, the weather was pleasant
enough to move ahead. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon and we got a call from
the Resort that our rooms were ready to be occupied.

Legoland Water Park, Johor Bahru, Malaysia |
Nevertheless, with stomachs full and kids excited about the Legoland waterpark, we straightaway entered there. We put our bag pack in the rental locker available at entrance, changed into suitable swim wears and splashed into the first pool we came across! The Legoland's Waterpark has colorful Legos floating everywhere. The pools, the rides, rest areas are all clean and bright and joyous music plays in the background that surely lifts up the mood. Water play is a favorite of my kids even at home, so it was indeed a lot of fun in the pools indeed. They were collecting the floating legos of different colors and sizes and building blocks while in water pool. Tubes and life-jackets of various sizes, colors and shapes are available in plenty. We personally liked the waterpark better than the amusement park. The rides are good and most of those were suitable for even my younger one too under adult supervision. Life guards were present in all pools and near rides. Still, its always advisable never to let the kids go beyond your sight and keep them in close vicinity. After a few hours of non-stop fun, and elder one looking tired and a little drowsy, we took an exit.

My husband collected the room keys and got our luggage sent to our room.
Meanwhile, the kids had another surprise in there at the resort. It
was a tastefully decorated Pirate Theme Family Suite that we entered. Kids were
super happy to see the bunk bed and had no patience to jump into it. We
had never found them so sleepy ever at home! It took us some effort to get the
kids freshen up, change into sleep wears and grab some food ordered through
room service. The rm had a box of Legos too that kept the kids busy gor a while
waiting for the meal. Also it had a secret treasure chest, with a
paper and pencil in which some clues were given to find the treasure chest
locker password by answering the questions. It was a fun activity for all of
us. As we solved the puzzle and opened the treasure chest, we got some sweet
candies and a new packet of Legos as a takeaway gift for kids. And aftet such a
happening and exciting day, soon the kids rushed into their bunk bed. For
the first time, they slept without me beside them. While we, the too tired mom
and dad, as always, rested in the connected master bedroom totally
feeling like a pirate couple!

Legoland: Pirates Themed Room |
The next morning, we intended to enjoy the resort itself. So, we
took the kids to the hotel lobby where there are lakhs of Legos here and there
and just everywhere. Everything looks made up of Legos. Its available in
multiple colors and sizes and shapes. And don't know how many kids of
various nationality and sizes and ages and temperament are all playing around
everywhere. Our kids had a small encounter on the day before too, when we had
arrived and were waiting to check in at the reception. So now they were
non-stop exploring every nook and corner. There was a gaming room with live
video games that my son just had to go. And a Lego Castle and a Lego Pirate
Ship... And season specific Ramadan Idols made of Lego... And several
pieces of beautiful Lego Models made by the amazing visitor kids from all over
the world. My kids put their share too by building a beautiful sword and a
pistol and various things of their imaginations. Even I got occupied with Legos
for a while, its so addictive.
I hope the pictures I have added in this blog will give you a better idea and prepare you for the fun. And you may anytime drop your comment for any query or advice that I would be glad to share.
